While I wouldn't trade being Pagan for anything there are disadvantages that do come along with following the path. My family finds itself in dire need at the moment. We are moments away from being homeless in the cold Pa winter. When Christians find themselves in need they can go to their local church to ask for aid. Sometimes the church itself has funds for such things and sometimes the members of the congregation come together to offer aid to the family in need. We Pagans don't have such an option since we don't have the organization and funding of Christianity. I've explored the Pagan community and instead of finding places I can turn for help I find lots of places where I am not allowed to ask my fellow Pagans for assistance.
We are supposed to be a community that believes we are all connected and that to help others is to help ourselves because of such connectedness. We are supposed to be compassionate and charitable, giving of ourselves to better the planet and each other. Yet when Pagans are in need, instead of finding compassion and assistance they find closed doors. Where is a Pagan to go for aid? This is a problem in our community that needs to be addressed. We need to have some way to aid fellow Pagans.
For those of you who would like to hear my family's story and perhaps offer aid you can visit the gofundme page we have started. All donations are greatly appreciated. No contribution is too small as every dollar counts. Thank you. Blessed be.
